Additional safety information for manually operated lever shears
- Read the operating instructions before use. Process only the materials and dimensions permitted there and observe the specified operating limits.
- Secure the shears to a stable, load-bearing base as described in the instructions. Keep the lever’s movement area clear.
- Before each use, check the blades, fastenings and any protective devices and lever restraints. Stop using the shears if anything is damaged or does not work safely.
- Cutting and crushing hazards: keep hands and fingers away from the blades, pinch points and moving lever. Never remove or defeat protective devices.
- Secure the workpiece against tilting using the intended holding device. Wear suitable cut-resistant gloves when handling sharp-edged sheet material; gloves do not replace keeping hands clear of the blades.
- Only one person may operate the shears at a time. Keep other people outside the working area.
- Do not extend the lever, strike it or apply excessive force. If the mechanism jams, stop and investigate only after securing the lever.
- After use and before cleaning, adjustment or maintenance, secure the lever against unintended movement as instructed. Blade replacement and repairs must be carried out by competent persons.
